Use of Child Restraints Prevents Serious Injuries in Dubois Co. Crash

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department credits the proper use of child restraints for preventing serious injuries in a two vehicle accident Wednesday morning on State Road 162.

A car driven by 49-year-old Steven Duncan of Ferdinand hit the rear of an SUV stopped in the northbound lane waiting to make a turn.

Duncan was taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital to be treated for leg pain.

The driver of the SUV, 30-year-old Allison Schneider of Troy, was taken to Jasper Memorial for treatment of back and neck pain.

Three children in the back seat, age’s 4-years, 3-years, and 5-months, were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Police say the proper use of child restraints prevented or greatly reduced the seriousness of their injuries.
