Woman Killed in Police Action Shooting in Sullivan Identified

A woman shot and killed by police during a standoff at a Sullivan motel Wednesday evening has been identified as 49-year-old Leslie Shayne Miller of Shelburn.

Miller was shot by members of an Indiana State Police Emergency Response Team when she pointed a gun at them in her room at the Days Inn Motel.

She had earlier locked herself in her room and refused to answer.

Police were called to the motel by motel employees around 1:30 PM Wednesday after Miller allegedly became disorderly, made threatening statements, and refused to leave.

Preliminary autopsy results indicate Miller died from gunshot wounds to her chest.
