Some Feel Shortchanged by State Conservation Practices

Many hunters and fisherman in Indiana feel the state is shortchanging fish and wildlife conservation. Gene Hopkins, President of the Indiana Sportsman’s Roundtable. He says the DNR Fish and Wildlife Division isn’t getting the funding from hunting and fishing licenses it needs to maintain the state’s conservation efforts. That’s why his group wants to pass a bill to move some tax money around, like when you by a fishing pole or binoculars.
Right now any tax money from buying those things doesn’t go to conservation. Their bill would change that.
