Evansville Officer, Cleared In September Death, May Be Done

A young Evansville police officer who was involved in the death of a man in September is leaving the force, but perhaps not for good.

Officer Trevor Koontz resigned yesterday.

He was cleared of his involvement in the September death of 55-year-old Edward Snukis, who died after fighting with officers.

Koontz resigned at the end of his one-year probation period.

But he may not be done.

Evansville Police say Koontz can take advantage of an option to resign from the force, then reapply to make sure he covers all of his state-mandated training requirements.
