The federal government is asking states to release drivers’ license information of their citizens over to the government. It’s part of a request by the Trump Administration so the information could be used by federal authorities to find people who are in the country illegally.
The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles is denying that request. The BMV’s decision is similar one made by Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson back in 2017. She refused to turnover the state’s voter information to to a Trump-appointed commission investigating claims of voter fraud. Vice President Mike Pence was co-chairman of that commission.
