State Lawmaker Introduces Paid Family and Medical Leave Proposal

Indiana State Representative Chris Campbell introduced a bill this week that would create a paid family and medical leave program.

The West Lafayette Democrat says the bill would require the Indiana Department of Workforce Development to establish a paid family and medical leave program for employees.

Campbell says the proposal would allow employees to be paid family medical leave for up to six weeks.

The employee will have to have earned at least $6,300 from their employer for over a year.

The program would be funded through payroll deductions and administered by the Department of Workforce Development.

Currently, 11 states and Washington D.C have introduced similar programs.
