Crawford County, IL Sheriff’s Office Utilizing Converted Military Humvee

The Crawford County Sheriff’s office is rolling out a new tactical vehicle to help officers better access parts of the county.

The 1986 Humvee is a former military vehicle, converted for urban use.

While it still has the look of the military, the department wants to ensure citizens that this is not part of an effort to militarize the sheriff’s office.

The department says the vehicle has been stripped down and will be used for vital rescue missions.
