A new safe haven baby box has been dedicated at an ambulance station in Ferdinand in Dubois County.
The dedication included a “Blessing of the Box” by local officials.
The exact location in Ferdinand is at 202 East Third Street.
The Safe Haven Baby Box is under the care of Memorial Hospital in Jasper.
It is one of a growing number of safe places for new mothers to surrender newborn babies if they feel they can’t care for the child.
This is the 46th Safe Haven baby box in Indiana.
In this area, there is a similar Safe Haven baby box at the Vincennes Fire Department headquarters at Ninth and Main Streets.
