Man Shot by Police at Evansville Regional Airport

Additional information is expected to be released Monday in a police-involved shooting early Saturday morning at the Evansville Regional Airport.

Evansville Police were called out around 12:30 a.m. concerning a man waving a knife around near the airport terminal’s ticket counter threatening airport employees.

A law enforcement negotiator was among the first on the scene and tried to de-escalate the situation, but eventually police had to fire pepper balls, a “less lethal” shotgun and a taser.

The suspect stated he was upset about his status in Evansville and wanted to go back to his country.

There is no word on the man’s condition.
