Indiana State Senator Dan Dernulc says he and his family were targeted in a swatting attempt Wednesday.
The Highland Republican says someone made a false report to law enforcement intending to trigger a large police response.
Local authorities quickly investigated, determined the report was false, and confirmed the family was safe.
Dernulc called the incident “scary and shocking,” condemned threats against public officials, and praised the Highland Police Department for their swift response.
He said he will continue representing Senate District 1 in the upcoming legislative session.
