Governor Braun Defends Special Session

By John Szink Dec 4, 2025 | 8:57 AM

Indiana Governor Mike Braun is defending his decision to call lawmakers into a special session this month to approve new congressional maps that would favor Republicans.

Braun says he knows some people are upset with the timing of redrawing the maps between census counts but says the state needs to “be competitive.”

The House will vote on the bill today (Friday), and the Senate vote is expected next week.

President Trump and Vice President Vance have been pressuring Republicans in Indiana to approve the new maps.
