The Vincennes Mayor’s Office is sharing the passing of former Mayor Howard Hatcher.
Hatcher served as a Vincennes Police Officer for many years and served as a member of the Police Merit Commission.
The following is an excerpt from a Facebook post by the Vincennes Police Department:
“Howard began his career in public service with the Vincennes Police Department in 1965 at just 21 years of age, making him one of the youngest officers to ever serve with the department. Over the course of more than 30 years, he dedicated himself to protecting and serving the community, ultimately attaining the rank of Major.”
Hatcher was most recently recognized for his critical work with the Knox County Health Department where he spearheaded emergency preparedness efforts during the pandemic.
