Health Insurance Costs Could Skyrocket if Obamacare Tax Credits Expire

By John Szink Oct 30, 2025 | 9:14 AM

A new report warns that health insurance costs could skyrocket if Congress lets key Obamacare tax credits expire.

The non-partisan Center on Budget and Policy Priorities says average out-of-pocket premiums would more than double, rising by about a thousand dollars a year.

The biggest jumps are expected in Tennessee, West Virginia, and Wyoming, along with higher costs for older Americans.

Open enrollment for Affordable Care Act plans starts Saturday and runs through January 15th.
