A new energy project is now officially in service in Pike County.

AES Indiana announced Wednesday that the Petersburg Energy Center—featuring over five-hundred-thousand solar panels and a massive battery storage system—is powering central Indiana.

The facility can generate enough low-cost solar energy for one-hundred-thousand homes and marks a key step in the utility’s plan to transition away from coal and toward a more diverse, sustainable energy mix.
