Welfare Eligibility Overhaul Heads to Governor Braun

In a 39-9 vote, the Indiana Senate has approved a sweeping overhaul of the state’s welfare eligibility standards.

Senate Enrolled Act 1, a top priority for Senate Republicans, now moves to the Governor’s desk.

The bill aims to dismantle “waste, fraud, and abuse” by implementing a “Hoosiers First” firewall for public assistance programs.
