The WIN Energy REMC Community Trust recently presented eight grants totaling over $34,000 to various organizations as part of its Operation Round Up program.
The program allows REMC members to round up their electric bills to the highest dollar to fund worthy causes in the area.
• Carlisle Elementary/Junior High School received $3,649 for an indoor drone flight program.
• Dream Builders received $2,000 for a drum sander to assist finishing beds.
• Habitat for Humanity of Gibson County received $1,775 to purchase insulation for the attic of the restore.
• The Humane Society of Sullivan County received $2,500 towards supplies for their pet food pantry and spay and neuter clinics.
• Knox County Soil and Water Conservation District received $10,000 towards rafts, paddles, and life jackets for the Wabash River Expedition.
• The Steen Township Fire Department received $5,000 towards the purchase of portable radios for use by firefighters.
• The Sullivan Baseball League received $3,968.70 for light fixtures on poles at the field.
• And Union Fire Department received $5,256.08 to purchase two radios for the station.
