Muslim Groups Criticize Lieutenant Governor for Calling Religion “Demonic Death Cult”

The Indiana Muslim Advocacy Network is calling Lieutenant Governor Micah Beckwith a “religious bigot” with “dangerous” rhetoric after Beckwith called Islam a “demonic death cult.”

Beckwith also says he hates Islam and wants all Hoosiers who are Muslim to convert to Christianity.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations also responded, saying the lieutenant governor has “every right to express his own religious views” but add he is spreading panic “about an imaginary Muslim takeover of Indiana.”

CAIR says Beckwith needs to “respectfully engage with the Indiana Muslim community, not put a bullseye on them or cast doubt on his commitment to uphold religious freedom for everyone in Indiana.”
