A parasitic infection being reported in the Midwest has reached central Indiana.
The Marion County Health Public Department reports 15 recently confirmed cases of cyclosporiasis, (Cy-clo-spo-ri-uh-sis) an intestinal infection that causes explosive diarrhea.
Health officials say there were four or fewer cases reported in previous years.
Typically, these types of outbreaks have been caused by fruits, veggies, or herbs … but the specific produce type and source for this outbreak has not been identified.
That’s according to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services after Michigan has seen nearly a thousand cases reported since late June.
