A former Monroe County sheriff’s deputy accused of sexually assaulting a woman in his patrol car has agreed to plead guilty to two lesser charges.
Jeffery Freeman will plead guilty to felony obstruction of justice and an amended misdemeanor battery charge, while prosecutors will dismiss several other charges.
Freeman was accused of turning off his body camera, groping the woman and allegedly choking and hitting her while he was on duty in August of 2024.
A change-of-plea and sentencing hearing is scheduled for August 31st, and he could face up to three years in jail.
