Indiana State Police say the driver of a car believed to have been involved in a domestic violence incident was being pursued by a Pike County Sheriff’s deputy Saturday evening when he crossed the centerline of State Road 64 and struck a van head-on.
The driver of the van, 41-year-old Amanda Wertman of Winslow was killed in the crash while her 8-year-old daughter later died at a Louisville hospital.
The driver of the car, whose name has not been released, was also killed.
Police say three other juveniles in the van remain hospitalized and are expected to recover.
The ISP says that before the crash, the driver of the car ran another motorist off the highway and attempted to strike the deputy’s vehicle.
