Local Health Officials Urge Precautions as West Nile Virus Detected in Daviess County

The Indiana Department of Health has notified the Daviess County Health Department that mosquito samples collected in Daviess County have tested positive for West Nile virus.

The department recommends using insect repellent and wearing protective clothing.

To prevent mosquito breeding, it’s essential to eliminate standing water around your home, as this is where they lay eggs.

In addition, be aware that the species of mosquito mostly responsible for West Nile Virus is active mostly between dusk and 1 a.m., and at dawn.
