Braun: $200 Million Investment Cuts Childcare Waitlist by Nearly 80 Percent

Indiana’s childcare waitlist has shrunk dramatically.

Governor Mike Braun announced Monday that the waitlist for childcare vouchers has dropped 78 percent since May, from more than 41,000 children to just over 9,000.

The drop follows a 200-million-dollar investment announced in April.

Nearly 48,000 children now receive vouchers, with priority going to siblings, infants, toddlers, and young children.

Braun says the vouchers help families afford care and let parents pursue better jobs and new skills.
