New Multi-Billion Dolla Microchip Manufacturing Plant Announced in West Lafayette

A lot of money is being thrown at Indiana to build a new microchip-making factory in West Lafayette.

3-point-8-7-billion dollars to be exact, and it’s being forked over by SK Hynix, which is based in South Korea.

They want to build a huge chip-making plant at Purdue’s Discovery Park.

It’s also using money from a bill written by Senator Todd Young meant to bring more chip manufacturing back within the US.

The company says it’s choosing Indiana because of its business-friendly climate and access to qualified talent.

SK Hynix plans to hire around a thousand people to staff the plant, which is set to be up and running by 2028.
