Indiana 8th in Fatal Police Chases

A study conducted by H&P Law reveals Indiana ranks 8th in the country for fatal crashes involving a police pursuit.

The study looked at the number of fatal and non-fatal crashes involving a police pursuit from 2017 to 2021 using data reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The study says that over that four-year period 1.53% of crashes involving a police pursuit in Indiana were fatal.

There were 4,044 crashes reported with 62 of them being deadly.

The state with the highest percent deadly crashes involving a police pursuit was Geogia at 2.09%.

The lowest on the list went to Hawaii with .21%.
