Carmel and Fishers. Indiana have secured the number one and two positions respectively in U.S. News and World report’s 2026-27 annual list of best places to live.
To make the top of the list, a place had to have good value, be a desirable place to live, have a strong job market and a high quality of life.
Fishers ranked #32 for Best Places to Retire; #1 in Best Places to Live in Indiana; and #1 in Best Medium Sized Cities to Live in the United States.
