An Oaktown woman died Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Freelandville Road in Oaktown.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office says 65-year-old Lela Parks was killed when she pulled onto US 41 from Freelandville Road into the path of a northbound pick-up truck driven by 37-year-old Thomas Darden of Nashville, Tennessee.

Parks’ vehicle was struck on the driver’s side door, sending it into the median where it came to rest.
