The Lawrence County, Illinois Board has unanimously agreed to a resolution for a Public Safety Tax ballot referendum in the April 6th, 2027 Consolidated Election.
Lawrence County voters will be asked to consider a 1% county sales tax imposed on most retail items sold in the county.
If the referendum is passed, and the county board chooses to impose the tax, the revenue generated will help fund county departments related to public safety, such as the sheriff’s department and jail, ambulance service, E911, and animal control.
