6-State Trooper Project Underway

By John Szink Jul 21, 2026 | 7:38 AM

Indiana State Police joined state police agencies from Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia this week for the 6-State Trooper Project.

The initiative will focus on the “Move Over” law, which requires drivers approaching emergency, recovery, highway maintenance, or utility vehicles—or disabled vehicles with flashing hazard lights—to move over.

If moving over is not possible, drivers must slow to at least 10 mph below the speed limit and pass safely.
