Adjustments to Speed Limits Planned for State Road 37 in Orange County

The Indiana Department of Transportation announces speed limit adjustments on State Road 37 through Orleans.

The changes to the speed limit are being made after an INDOT Traffic Engineering study and aim to increase safety through the community.

The adjustments are as follows:

50 mph – S.R. 37 from Orleans City Limits to 300 feet south of Martin Street
45 mph – S.R. 37 from 300 feet south of Martin Street to 500 feet south of Haney Street.
35 mph – S.R. 37 from 500 feet south of Haney Street to Vincennes Street.
25 mph – S.R. 37 from Vincennes St. to Adams St.
35 mph (25 mph school zone limit 7 – 9 a.m. and 2 – 4:30 p.m.) – S.R. 37 Adams St. to 665 feet north of Marley Street.
45 mph – S.R. 37 665 feet north of Marley St. to Quarry Road.
50 mph – S.R. 37 Quarry road to Orleans town limits.

The speed limit changes are expected to take place on or after Wednesday, July 22.

INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution, and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones.
