Plans Announced for $25M Campground and Other Upgrades at McCormick’s Creek State Park

Governor Mike Braun and the Indiana DNR announced plans Monday for a larger campground at McCormick’s Creek State Park.

A deadly EF-3 tornado destroyed the campground and most nearby trees in March 2023.

The new 65-acre campground will feature 192 larger sites with electric, water and sewer hookups.

The roughly 32-by-40-foot sites will accommodate bigger recreational vehicles.

Thirty-two primitive tent sites and existing group camps will remain.

Plans also include a gatehouse, camp store, three comfort stations and playgrounds.

The campground is expected to cost $25 million.

The Indiana DNR Division of Forestry will provide timber for the gatehouse and camp store.

It is expected to open in late summer 2028.
