Governor Mike Braun was in Evansville Friday to mark a major milestone for the I-69 Ohio River Crossing.
The state announced completion of Section 3 — a 202-million-dollar project that built three approach bridges and roadways that will provide all-weather access to build the future I-69 bridge.
Officials say the work finished on time and on budget after starting in the fall of 2024.
The approach roads will open to traffic once the new bridge is done.
A contractor for the actual river crossing — Section 2 — is expected to be named by the end of the year, with construction starting next spring and finishing in 2031.
When complete, it will be the final piece of I-69 in Indiana, connecting Evansville to Henderson.
