Downtown Washington is getting ready for “A Storybook Christmas.”
That is the theme announced for the 2026 Downtown Washington Christmas Parade of Lights – set for Saturday, December 5th at 5:30 p.m.
Organizers say the theme celebrates the books, characters and stories that make Christmas magical, and carries special meaning this year following the loss of Dolly Parton and her legacy inspiring young readers through the Imagination Library.
With the Carnegie Library in the heart of downtown, entries are encouraged to bring a favorite book or fairy tale to life – with plenty of lights and music.
Prizes will be awarded, and Santa will visit kids at The Commons after the parade.
