Parole Board Weighs Clemency for Jeffrey Weisheit

By John Szink Oct 19, 2026 | 1:58 PM

The Indiana Parole Board is considering clemency for Jeffrey Allen Weisheit, sentenced to death for killing 5-year-old Caleb Lynch and 8-year-old Alyssa Lynch in a 2010 Evansville house fire.

Weisheit said he rejected a plea deal for life without parole because he did not want to live then, but he does now.

His attorneys are seeking a delay for a brain scan and a review of execution procedures.

The board will hear from Lisa Lynch and the Indiana Attorney General’s Office before recommending whether Governor Mike Braun should intervene.

Braun will make the final decision.
