A former Pike Central High School teacher appeared in court Tuesday for a change-of-plea hearing.

As part of a negotiated plea agreement, Abigail Vinnedge pleaded guilty to a Level 6 Felony charge of Official Misconduct and was placed on probation for one year.

She was also ordered to complete 150 hours of community service.

A charge of Obstruction of Justice was dismissed.

Upon successful completion of probation, Vinnedge may petition the court to reduce the conviction to a Class “A” Misdemeanor.

When the charges were first filed, the school district cut ties with Vinnedge, saying her alleged conduct violated professional standards.
