Indiana has reported more than 100 confirmed measles cases this year, the highest number the state has seen in the 21st century.

The Indiana Department of Health says cases have jumped from eight on September 2nd to 104.

That compares with 10 cases in all of 2025 and just one in 2024.

Measles is highly contagious and can cause a fever, cough and rash.

IU Indianapolis epidemiologist Thomas Duszynski says the situation is serious, especially because the disease is preventable through vaccination.
